Nightlife, Sports, Cruises and More Available in Florida’s Tampa Bay Region

Nightlife, Sports, Cruises and More Available in Florida’s Tampa Bay Region

Beautiful Tampa and Tampa Bay are located on the west coast of Florida and about an hour and a half from Orlando. Every time we go over there I discover something new and different, this time it was Channelside and the Port of Tampa. Of course the Tampa Port Authority is there and cruise or cargo ships can be seen coming and going at various times. There is a really great aquarium with several exhibits showing the different kinds of Florida water ways and what lives in them. They have a great little ‘water park’ area for the kids that has giant moray eels for kids to battle with water guns and a pirate ship they can explore. Channelside itself is an entertainment complex that has great nightlife, shopping, dinning and a movie theater. The Towers of Channelside are brand new, just completed in 2007, they are twin 30 story upscale condos, not a bad place to live if you like a lot of action.

Ybor City is also a place I’ve always wanted to go and got the chance to visit this time. It’s a great little section of the city that steeped in tradition of old world Europe. Ybor City was founded in the 1880’s by Vicente Martinez. Here you’ll find spectacular buildings, quaint shops, fabulous food, delicious coffee and hand rolled cigars and the nightlife? Don’t get me started. There are clubs every few feet, along with several entertainment venues, it’s a great place to spend a day walking around and a night dancing and parting with friends. There is a place for everyone to party no matter what you’re into. Coyote Ugly is a place where you can dance on the bar and chat up the lady bar keeps, they always have something to say. Club Prana has five different levels with different dance club styles on each for maximum nighttime enjoyment.

Another popular reason to visit Tampa is the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. They have many gaming tables and slot machines the décor itself is worth the trip. Downtown Tampa is a beautiful place itself; the buildings alone are great works of architecture. They have many fine hotels with conference centers for corporate meetings and an international airport which makes it convenient for out of country guests to visit.

If you’re looking for even more things to do in Tampa, you won’t be disappointed on that front either. Everyone knows Tampa is home to the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. This city takes their team VERY seriously, you can take a pirate ship cruise on any night of the week and there are as many pirate flags as there are stars and stripe flying around the city, all in good fun mind you.

As I said Orlando is nearby and many people visiting there hear about fabulous Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay, so they come over. That’s great if that’s what it takes to get you to visit but once you do plan to stay a day or two, if you don’t you’ll wish you had. Tampa is so much fun, even if you’ve been there a few times as I have, go again I promise you’ll find something new to love about it as I always do.

Florida is a great place to take a vacation, so to see where to go and what to do, view our pictures of Central Florida, with many of Orlando’s popular destinations and a few off the beaten path.

Pirate Costumes: Apparels And Accessories

Pirate Costumes: Apparels And Accessories

Pirate costumes are ageless and have always been genderless. Although most ancient pirates were men, women’s pirate costumes have more experimental potential than men’s costumes. You can emulate female pirates such as Anne Bonny or Mary Read. If you want to look mysterious, fierce and sexy, the garb of a pirate is just the right choice for you.

Pirate Costumes: Suggestions for the Apparel
Before investing in pirate costumes, you must make up your mind about whether you would like to dress up as a traditional or a modern, sexy pirate.

Traditional pirate costumes include black pants, with slits at the sides, along with a black and white top. Black ankle or knee length boots would add to the look. A little makeup along with the right accessories would complete the rugged, seafaring pirate look.

For a modern pirate costume, a mini skirt with an uneven hem would be a good choice. You may choose to sport cropped pants or legging with ragged edges below the skirt. For a blouse, you can consider wearing a peasant top with a corset. Pirates are known to be untidy and generally sport unruly locks of matted hair. Women can sport the unkempt look for the same purpose. You must team up the dress with a pair of knee length boots. You can also choose to add turned-down boot cuffs to your footwear.

Pirate Costumes: Essential and Optional Accessories
There are some accessories without which pirate costumes would look incomplete:

* A weapon, such as a dagger or a sword.

* A tri-corner hat bearing the classic pirate symbol of a flag with a white skull.

* A coat or a jacket reaching the thighs.

Some optional accessories that would enhance your pirate role play are:

* A black eye patch.

* A scarf or a bandana sticking out from under the hat.

* A pet, such as a monkey or a parrot.

* A garish-looking belt.

* Jewelry, such as big hoop earrings, bracelets gold chains and thick finger rings.

Pirate Costumes: Characters to Emulate
After donning the pirate costumes, you can try emulating:

* Bootylicious Sexy Adult

* Captain Swashbuckler

* High Seas Pirates

* Buccaneer Babe adult

* Gothic Pirate lady

Sexy Wear Avenue is an online store which believes that there is a femme fatale inside all women and helps bring out the same through its range of attires. You can purchase the above-mentioned pirate costumes from top-notch brands at very reasonable prices from www.sexywearavenue.com

Flags – Why Are They Important?

Flags – Why Are They Important?

Flags have been in use for way over 4000 years. But they have always been used for the same purpose, to give others information.

King Arthur’s Knights of the Round Table used to wear flags on their horses and armour so that others on their side could tell who they were. The Jolly Roger was a symbol of piracy and flown by pirates at the top of their vessels to scare people off meaning “no mercy will be shown to those who resist”. Also, more recently the Olympic flag represents the five continents coming together in friendly competition, with the white background symbolising peace.

So in the past, flags have played a significant part in society, which is also the case today. Every nation has a flag, whose colours are tied to the country’s history, for example, the orange in the Dutch flag represents the Orange Order that previously ruled the country. National flags are used to represent each country during conflict, sporting competitions, international conferences and events, but they also give individuals a chance to show their patriotism by flying the flag of their nation. This is particularly evident in England when a major football event is happening; the majority of the population who are football fans fly the flag of St George to show that they are behind the English football team.

Clubs and organisations have their own flags too, for example the boy scouts, and all have special meanings but are nevertheless there for symbolic reasons. Many organisations have caught onto the importance of flags and now manufacture these for a wide range of clientele. Piggotts (www.piggotts.co.uk/flags-index.htm) are one such example, and provide flags and flag poles for places such as the parliament buildings and other famous, high profile streets in London.

So why do well feel it’s necessary to expose these flags when we are feeling slightly patriotic? Well because they have been used for so many years, they have become a part of our heritage and are a symbol of individuality, which will continue for thousands of years into the future.

Adult Pirate Costumes – The Many Moods Of The Sea Robber

Adult Pirate Costumes – The Many Moods Of The Sea Robber

What exactly do you know about pirates? If you have read Treasure Island, or watched Pirates of the Caribbean, you may have a pretty good idea about doubloons and treasure chests. It is amazing how our knowledge of pirate costumes is not that vast though – vests, bandanas, eye patches, cutlasses, buckled shoes are just one side of the story. These items are terrific for kids, but adult pirate costumes have more room for experimentation and even a little naughty fun.

Pirate costumes are available for men as well as women. Adult pirate costumes for men include the entire Jack Sparrow, Black Scallywag, and Captain Meyer getup. Eyepatches with skulls and crossbones, braids, hats, beards, weapons, shoes, beads help you complete the look. If you dare, make it a little more flamboyant, try a golden coin pendant on a chain to get that piraty feel!

Ladies’ Special

Ladies, you don’t have to be a Jack Sparrow clone to enjoy the pirate high. In fact, adult pirate costumes for women have more room for novelty and excitement than men’s costumes do. So chuck your witch, nurse, movie star routine this Halloween and try some adult pirate costumes. Choose the leather, the lace, the fluff, the satin, the pearls, the faux feathers this Halloween. Make the eyepatch sexy, twirl and sashay in vixenish short skirts, don the back fishnets, look demure in a long skirt, or just be cool in ruffs. The cute look is in fashion too, if you can carry it off – laces, frills, white caps. Take inspiration from Elizabeth Swann. The pirate girl does not have to be all leather and eyepatch!

No pirate costume is complete without the stolen loot, so help yourself to gold coins, treasure chest, and tons of jewelry. Proclaim your sovereignty over the seas through a skulls and crossbones flag. A telescope and a map indicating hidden treasure are some other accessories to complete your pirate act.

Make Your Pirate Dream Come True

Make Your Pirate Dream Come True

After the popularity of the Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean films, games, series, novel and theme park, almost anyone has dreamed on becoming a pirate at least once a life. Whether you are an enthusiastic pirate fan or your children like to play this role, pirate costumes are the closer opportunity to sail fantasy seven seals while having fun.

Although stories and legends of pirates come from centuries ago and are present in many cultures around the world, Walt Disney was the man who popularized one of the most famous pirates of all times, Captain James Hook, the villain depicted by the Scottish novelist and playwright J.M. Barries in his 19th century novel “Peter Pan”. Captain Hook was immortalized in the silver screen through his 1953 animated film “Peter Pan” and since then pirates – many other pirates appeared into the public media scene.

Behind all pirates costumes that you can imagine there are countless stories that you can use as plot for your pirate theme party. Children love to disguise and pirate costumes for girls and boys come in so many different sizes, colors and designs that it is advisable let your kids decide on the pirate outfit they will like to wear.

There is no party without a cake so place an order to your favorite bakery one that keep the party’s pirate theme up to round your event. Depending on your children’s age, however, take care with swords and other accessories that might accidentally hurt them or hurt your little guests, and do not miss flags with skulls and other pirate decorations put in place.

Nonetheless, pirate costumes are not only designed for children, but for adults as well. Retaking the story of Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean, this was the dream of an adult man that envisioned a walk-through wax museum with depictions of real pirates inside static scenes at Disneyland in the late 1950s. Walt Disney was a man with the capacity to think and feel like a child to make his dreams came true.

As an adult, you can also enjoy wearing pirate costumes at your birthday party, your friend’s bridal shower or any other adult event planned with an original theme in mind. Pirate parties for adults are especially popular as a part of team building activities that involve motivational games such as Treasure Hunting, the capture of imaginary seashore forts and many other coaching games.

Furthermore, browsing online costumes shops such as mooncostumes, you will discover sexy pirate costumes for woman, and man, that spice up bachelor and college parties, and many other times secret private dreams. Regardless the type of event, a pirate theme party is also an opportunity to break with the monotony of traditional celebrations that sometimes are really plain. It is very hard that you live a real pirate adventure experience, but so easy when dressing pirate costumes.

Erik Aronesty is an expert in party coordinating and Halloween costumes. Moon Costumes is a premier seller of a unique selection of adult and child costumes, masks, hats, wigs, and accessories. To learn more check out Halloween costumes, pirate costumes, and horror costumes.

Lego Pirates Abound at Legoland California’s Pirate Shores

Lego Pirates Abound at Legoland California’s Pirate Shores

Legoland California’s Pirate Shores area is, as its name implies, composed of five pirate themed adventures and rides as well as a retail shop. As pirates we should all be ready for a dunking now and then. Therefore all Pirate Shores guests might want to plan ahead. For the kids and adventuresome adults, this means extra clothes, a swimsuit, and towel. Also be aware that even though youâ??re in southern California it sometimes gets a little cool for these attractions and they can close without notice.

Rides and attractions in Pirate Shores include the Buccaneerâ??s Booty shop, Captain Crankyâ??s Challenge, Swabbies Deck, Treasure Falls, the Soak-N-Sail, and Splash Battle. All of the adventure attractions include an element of water and are designed to get you wet so beware. All of the rides also have minimum height requirements, except for the Swabbies Deck.

The newest addition to Pirates Shores, and a good place to start your pirate adventure, is Captain Crankyâ??s Challenge. This is a natural because as landlubbers you will be able to get your â??sea legsâ? on this pirate ship that sways from side to side. Youâ??ll feel like youâ??re on the open seas! Check out the Lego pirates who look like theyâ??ve already had their ration of rum!

Next stop could be the Buccaneersâ?? Booty gift shop where you can pick up some pirateâ??s booty for yourselves. This might include everything from eye patches and swords to pirate hats and t-shirts. If you didnâ??t bring wet water gear youâ??ll find a large selection of swimsuits and towels here as well.  No pirate would be worth his salt without a tattoo! The kids can get a temporary one at the airbrush tattoo station in the shop. The sun can get pretty hot out on the water too, so some sunscreen might be in order.

Swabbies Deck is the next attraction on your journey and hereâ??s where the little scallywags can have them some fun with the water fountains and little squirt cannons. Swim diapers are required for pirates four and under. While the little swabbies are having their fun, the older kids and adults can watch boats in Splash Battle being ambushed by water cannons.

The Soak-N-Sail is a pirateâ??s playground with water. Be prepared for lots of water. In fact be prepared for hundreds of gallons of water. Youâ??ll want to wear swimsuits for this one! And kids under four need their swim diapers here too. There is a pirateâ??s ship wreck for exploring, but beware as there are pirate pranksters lurking around and you may get soaked with hundreds of gallons of water.  There are water slides to slide on and specially designed pumps and gadgets that all spray a lot of water fun. Shiver me timbers!

The last stop in Pirate Shores is the Splash Battle adventure ride. Youâ??ll ride around islands in boats designed like ships with cannons that shoot real jets of water. Shoot your cannons at other buccaneers and pirates but beware as they can shoot back! The ride will take you through a skull island and youâ??ll pass by a water volcano and a wrecked ship flying the skull and cross bones flag.  There are plenty of realistic Lego pirate models and scenes to check out along the way as well. This is indeed a fitting way to end your swashbuckling trip through Legolandâ??s Pirate Shores!
